Sign off my extention employeement contaract by 3:40 pm today. I did it quite nature and easy; no hype or excitement, but to fulfill my obligation as an executive of the company; 15 minutes later, we conduct the fisical year 2005 kick-off meeting; as COO explained to me that he wish me to take over the whole event; so, I stand on the stage and go through the power point presentation one by one; I thought I was faceless as I didn't built up any momentum; I don't know why even in the daytime, I reminded myself not to forget a few key points, such as " Why we must change our current organization; how to do it? and the story behind to encourge our employee "; maybe I am OK to motivate small group of managers instead of acting like the general deliver sensational speech before the marching of the army.
My reporting line changed again, this is the fifth time encounted for the first 4 years of tenure; however this time, the change is a favorable direction to us; we will report to chairman of the board starting from April 1; the music guy who run the new business group will no longer be our supervisor, what a dramatic change; last month, we were preparing the budget and reviewed it in Tokyo with the old managerment team, now it swift to the current one; this is only a temporary system , I can smell, since the parent company change its Group CEO from a Japanese to an American, the first time in its history, we can sense the major change will come soon. Chairman told us the major structure change may announced by end of March.
Farewell dinner at " My humble house " - the place is neither humble nor the price; a creative Cantonese restaurant; I am the only Taiwanese sitting with 7 other Japanese executives again, 3 of them will either transfer back to Tokyo or retire, they are the primary supporter to our business development in Taiwan. it gave me room to have a closer look at thow a Japanese company running the dynamic operation in Taiwan.
Sending new Chairman of Taiwan home - he is the new kid on the block and a totally stranger in town, I can sense he wish to devloped the local intamacy with me, and I should be his guild in town; but he would like get to know this city during weekend, it conflict with our family life, I can only see if Sat. if fine with us. as the liasion, I will also acting as the window to connect him with locals.
Yu kwang and Martin seems glue by God, the missonary tour is like a misson to me, I hope it can be realized and I can also witness what they did together; bringing my father and his best friend - Mr. Tung - they've been know each and establish friendship for half centery; to a Muslim restaurant. it was introduced by Professor Kuo and his wife Mr. Chuang; ox tale, whole wheet pan cake, I can tell they enjoy it very much; the knowledge I get is to know currently there are 50,000 muslin in Taiwan.
Arrange a farewell dinner for VP of Engineering team on Tuesday night, I book the French restaurant, Jason and the chef Nicolas really helps, I reserve the entire restaurant for the private party. this is the first time our company held a farewell in French restaurant, the wine picked by Jason is great, sparking wine first, then follow with whit wine / red wine / desert wine and Italian mineral water. a great experience for all the managers in our company.
