I met little roger this afternoon, a young talent who is now considering change his job and join us for the career plan, to work in western company and Japanese company is totally different, negotiation is not allowed in the beginning if you work in Japanese company, they provide the opportunity for you to learn, grow and training you to work their for your entire career, yes the environment is changing , but the mentality stays, work for life is no more a goal for nowadays young talent even in Japan, Taiwan is something different -- my industry is different as well , Internet begin from the west -- to be more specific , commercialize from the west, A Japanese multinational company adapt it and roll out in Taiwan, I -- a local resident took up this initiative and star up the company with Japanese colleagues, a mix culture company -- Little roger must strong enough to obtain the concept before join us. But as I said to him -- I love talent, I love to work with talent, and I love to train talent, hopefully, he can past the tight screening and filtering process conducted by our COO.

Hello again, for the past 2 days, I was the CKO in the family , well, CKO stand for Chief Kid Officer, due to ( or thanks to ) the SARS, all the business and personal traveling were stopped, it create an experience never before for an multinational CEO like me, to stay at home and go home everyday for almost 100 days is an unexpected gift, then you get used to pet your kids, follow their homework and listening to your wife complained in front of you ( not over the phone on your business trips ) quite an experience for me, probably for lots of business person in Taiwan, ( not to mentioned hundreds thousand of people working in China from Taiwan )

When guide you kid doing their homework, you feel like a “qualify father ". you solved problems on the textbook other then business issues. You are the hero of the kids. Counting on the weekend on hand, you think of bringing kid to beach or out for activity which you didn't get time to do before. Yesterday, I brought my little one - 6 years old son - Sound to FU-LONG beach with me, we spent 6 hours together, just 2 of us, we caught on an early train departed from Taipei at 7:20 am and arrived at FU-LONG around 8:30 am, Sound doing his sand castle while I reading the " Business 2.0 " on the beach, we play with water together and enjoy the famous FU-LONG rail station lunch box ( Benton ), when walking by the beach, someone asked if I am the single parent of the family, it surprise me, I am proud of been mistaken as an " over qualified " father. Look around the beach, yes, it seems I am the only Man bringing kid along, rest are either family or Women with Kid.

We are exhausted on the way back to Taipei, falling asleep on the train, change car at Ba-Du station, the father and son must cause a few curiosities among people at the platform. I am a happy father; I am satisfied by making this precious moment with Sound before he enters the primary school this coming summer.

Play is a game kids will never get tired, time is never enough for kid on the beach, the passion of playing shall be what we adapt for working, bring back the Kid's excitement, we may perform what we unexpected., someone said it before “ we are living by working, not working for living “ if we change the mentality and to replace working as playing, what will our life be ?

A story which was indirectly benefit from SARS -- the family tie , the value of family. And the time to spend with grow ups.
