I am working

I feel good when 100 percent devote to work; begin with the monthly gathering meeting - a new routine we introduced this fisical year in order to make communication in the company more trenspenrency and efficient. we targeted to conduct this monthly meeting in 30 minutes and having division directors update the current situation to all employee; I believe even we may leak some of the information to competitors, but this is better off if our employee know less than our compeitiors.

I will open the meeting for 5 minutes and to update everyone the corporate policy and send some message as well; as we are far behind the ISP target ; the gap in the month of May is 40% ; one division launch the Member Get Member campaign and announce it to all the attendee and provide some incentives; by the end of the meeting, when conducting the closing remark ( a tail after meeting ), I announce to all of our people I will donate additional 10,000 NT as special award to the best employee who achieve the monthly MGM target by managing to obtain more than 10 subs in the month of June, I set the target for myself, which is 2 ( I should working on it from now on )

Inviting farewell committee members to a Dim Sum lunch to show my appreciation to these volunteer staff; bascially, these members were elected by their depts and to service the employee benefit in the area of : birthday party ; 3 Chinese Festival depertmental gathering; Year End party and company training trip; from last year, I treated the past committe members with meal and to listen to what they suggest. since some of them were junior staff in the company, I spred some casural topics and to ignite the laugh during the lunch.

Review with L. - the director who fill with confidence and who did a great job this morning at the monthly gathering meeting, a simply. clear and powerful presentation he made impressed most of us; he told me A. - Senior Manager in charge of ISP business accompany with him to the shop check and return 3 o'clock in the morning and he told me he can feel that everyone is gearing up for fighting this good fight again. I am touched , when finished the review session, I brought one bottle of German sparking water to A. desk and show my respect immediately.

L. hold an easy attitude when working with us, he always full of confidence and posture with a " I can handle it " embience. this is great. for the best 4 years, I didn't really teach or couch him, but today I did; we only discuss in one topic " Terminate the online shop and its impact to our business "; although I knew by forcasting the revenue, we may not turn to a break-even point for this business; so, he did have a solid groud to favor the decision joinly discussed with COO, and the fire was lighted by the corporation with our sister company in Taiwan - The hardward marketing company, they are not favor with our suggestion letting us integrate the shop to our coming EC mall business, so I raised 6 major point druing our review conversation:
1. How to make up the projected revenue until end of fisical year if we terminate the operation? if there's saving in cost or increase bottom line, then we have to show it in our P and L and reported to the board.
2. How to reallocate the manpower and convince them nothing wrongly but we swift to a even correct direction?
3. How to keep the relationship with other sister company who we carried their product and building strong relationship among the supplier and our subscriber? and if we lost this corporation platform online, once these company launch product related to internet appliction and services, how we can reconnect it and drive the sales?
4. How to keep the pre-order and hit items sales machinism in our coming EC mall business - what kind of store can represent our image and provide us a simotenious learning experience online?
5. We offer the benifit of online shoping for our prestigue product as a strong point to our ADSL subscriber. now we terminate this service and direct them to 6 physical shops, are we mission the goal to provide our subs the added value service which only us can differicate from competitors?
6. Since hardware company is not favor with our idea to integrate product into EC Mall, they may take the same rationale advise their dealer not to open shops in our EC Mall, if that happen, our EC mall may only list with company saling with bargin second hand product or Paraell Import ; none of this service will please our ADSL subsribers and the corporate image and brand may suffer from this.

Going through this thinking routine, he learned and I will keep couching him to be the candidate of the executive in the company.

T. - HR head together with C.- CRM head pay a visit to our ill employee, T. return and report to me the situation, I can sence that she wish me to visit him as well, I told her I will do it next week, when checking his personal information, he worked with us for almost 3 years, the performance were average but satisfied with the company ; I hope he can make it through.

A. visited us without notice, she show up after the greeting with COO, she came to Taipei for the re-examination of her after-surgery check, everything is fine with her and she back to the aggrestive working attitude, although she worked in a local-big firm in charge of marketing loacted in Taichung, she didn't change the way she points things. the last thing I share with her is " Be Happy " she knows what I means.

Finishing the presentation file for next Monday, I revised my ambitious goal and shrink down the topic to " Recording Industry " only this time. try to make the speech with logic and system, so I did change lots of my previous slides and make ti a well-thoughout one. and I really make it, finishing everything beofore going home.

Late dinner with wife in a newly open shubu-shubu shop. the porting is too big, I can hardly finish all the meal.

a very business weekend ahead -- YPO members meeting and kick-out party; Forum follow on Sunday and attending J. and S. wedding.

Determination keep in high level, I love the way I keep my momentum.

Sending one set of PSP to Sky, the ides came suddenly and I do apprecaite the friendship and this is at least I can do.

The determination

I did draw a firm line in the bottom of my heart, returning to office on Thursday, I asked my drive to pick me up 30 minutes before regular time and arrived the office before 7:30 am; complete the " To Do " items, finishing the polishment of EZfly consulting reports and digest what to be addressed in the following meeting and reviews - I done a very fruitful day, beginning at 7:30 am and finished the day by 11:30 pm -- after the show at Riverside -- enjoy the touch keyboard and voice by Kimbo Fu.

I am so happy that I devoted almost all my energy in the everyday life, I am not talking about don't wasting my time, but simply wish to make every detail perfect ; the morning review session, I follow the question of how the retention process doing by our call center reps. how the machanism runs and what's the insufficient resouce and poor result stand for? C. Maybe not getting used of my in-depth interaction and she know that a better preprearing is the only way to follow my review, this is a fact that I learnt from one executive -- when receving answers from question, never accept the wild-guessing instince response, every answers should follow with the fact, only letting fact speaks, and each fact is represent shall equip with supporting findings; a very good way to hav your co-worker think hard before throwing answers to a question.

I also admire the professor's comment on a few things, I must write it down before forgotten:
1. Every Channel work must dig from both side.
2. When it come to 2 or more equvilent solutions, don't try one end only, at least you should deploy some resource to the potential back-ups.
3. Design is for simply our life -- this include organizational design ( my intepretation )

Review followed with HR, I am told that there's a possiblity that our company had a containate desease patient, the sympton lead to an immunity system dysfunction, it cross my mind with AIDS, although I can't jump to the conclusion too soon, but my experience handling such employee in my entertainment days reflect the process and caring of those people; I instruct the HR head to carefuly investage which my instinct is wrong but at the same time, secure every human right / employee benefit to this certain person.

J. was very frustrated. been promoted for just 2 months, he felt that the stress level is getting higher than higher, he felt that we -- the executives didn't trust him or trust the action / plans coming from his division; I had to condcuct my education and couching paraphasing to him, I told him to devoted ones heart , we have to ignor the figures ( target ) first, but concentrate on where we " Believe " we can make it, and the challenging of becoming a director is something can't be experiment, which means when people seeing the glory of you, you are encouting some sycological changes which no body seeing from outside, the mature of becoming a qualified executive is to handle all the contridiction and confrontation smoothly; try to think about the normal distribution in life, we have to deal with 80% of the uncertainly, this apply to an executive also, we have to deal with 80% of not sure, or delima; this is why I always urge our mangers to make decent decision instead of simply decision, we are entitled to make decision and sometime we tried to make it simple and forget the rule of the normal norm, this is why power been abused and unfair situation happend. I told him also that this is only part of the " Homework " in life -- the work, apart from that, we have to face live and death, losing of itimacy, health, family , social issue in the years to come. learn how to " Live with it " not get rid of it -- no one can escape the pain of growth, knowing more and reluctant to do more. I will attend his wedding on Sunday and I wish my encourgement means something to him.

Lunch at A-meil restarant located at the Ambassdor Hotel, one of the legenary restuarant in town with the aboriginal deco. it favous with the local delicacy, during the lunch, I clearfy the difination of Culture and Creative industry with C. she seems contend with this new finding, Culture is not an industry, but a business or mission to preserve, protect and support; Creative is the industry to grow and incubate, some of the element extract from Culture can be development in the creative industry once it follow the commercization pattern such at mass production, decent promotion and variety of channel distribution and can be replicate in quantatity -- a mass manufacturing concept. she is brilliant enough to understand.

a 30 minutes tele-conversation with Mama Lee, and Nacy about the coming Coco Concert, they wish to have the show taking place in Taipei and Kaoching - probably as a show and a showcase to roll out internationally; I didn't reject the idea immediately althought I know I am incapable to handle it physically and sychologically. they will come to Taipei next Friday, I need to prepare something in advance.

Interviewing with 2 leagle candidate, different attribution and attitude, I favor the second candidate as she survive herself in an enviroment full of creative people - the Rock Record Group. anyone work in the creatively enviroment will grow themsleves to a height of learning the communciation pattern with people in different personality, in order to get the thing done. I inform the future supervisor to well discuss with our exsiting leagle representative as I can smell the fire is begin to erupt.

Ezfly consuting yesterday was for knowing the product and the procedure of placing the product, I learn a lot and I am so happy to be a quick learner, to compare it with EZtravel, in 4 catagrory, Ezfly only win in domestic tickets, and this is something not to be proud of - because its major shareholder is airline. I share and learn the secret of product developing process, a fun and interesting interaction.

Egg plane curry dinner with K, a old friend and colleage who suffer significantly in his marriage, I was the witness for the wedding and learn how bad the situation goes, as he told me he devoice last year always, I was happy but knowing they are living together still, this make me feel uneasy, anyway, only him can soothe the suffering. we are only listener.

Kimbo was great, a ture talent and singing from bottom of his heart, Chris came out with the picture of a musical of himself, quite intersting. a project to follow in near future.

My eyes were sore and tired for the day, drop some eye medicine, I am so afriend of being blind when I can see the world. a fear grows in my heart.

I had a great day. so content and so meaingful.

Missing for 5 days

I lost what's been posted in Kaochung last Friday night; I can't remember anything I wrote the day, but for the past few days, I have to make up memories, no matter how little it came to my mind.

Golden Meloday Award mission complete, although the outcome didn't please everyone, however, the judge penel win the credit from the 16th anniverstiy ceremory, I am happy that as the General Commisionar for this most important music event in Taiwan, I leave some foot print and win some applouse.

We took the evening flight to KS and check in Han Lai Hotel, oringally, Mayor Chen would like to host the dinner for all the judges, but he failed. he is engaged with the visit of Pime Minister - who recommend him to be the acting Major when Mr. Shen was appointed Prime Minister in March; all the judges enjoy the dinner, people from the world of creativity , they don't really care who will attend and why, the first dinner before select the winner of each award the following day, some of the judge even got drunk, this is the ture feeling of artist. City News Office arrange a city tour after dinner, as a chief of judge penel, I have to follow all the offical activity and follow every schedule on it; well, I am lucky to participat on the night tour to River of Love and City Film Library; we cruise the river , listen to the ancient story of Kao Shung, there are only 10 people out of 40 judges attend the tour. we are lucky.

Ceremony took 4 hours, the press session took place 30 minutes before the final awards. I make some notes when watching the programs at my seats and I can smell what kind of inquiry the jouralist will rais, not to my surprise, I response to what I can and experience the torture from the reporter the second time. everything turn out to be fine althought my head was so badly ached.

Sunday is casual, the after award meeting is a good one, judges speaks and the discussion is so healthy, I wish all the officals really listen to their voice and making Golden Meloday Award the most prestiges award in Greater China.

Kwang-Ling came and we went for the dinner, having see him for 2 years, he didn't change at all, love chellenging, enjoy debating, disagree in most of the time. well, I knew him quite well, I should not change him as he did nothing wrong, but the communication with him wasn't a pleasent moment.

Mama Lee called and asked if I am intersting in doing Coco's concert, it's been 4 plus years. I should know what to do and what not to do, I promise ther to call her back on Thursday. I am thinking what to say..

Pick up my wife at KS airport and we heading for our Kenting trip. another 3 dyas 2 nights break for both of us. we stop by East Hourber town and enjoy our lunch there - the town is so famous by its sea food.

time flies, checking mail at Kenting and learnt one of our mangers is resigning, someone in the office didn't put off cigeerate bud and cause a small fire. Talk with J over the phone for 30 minutes,.............. half casual and half business. but we discover 2 new things which we didn't do before.. Visting Kengting House - the villa for late Prsident Chiang in the 60th, it garner the best view in Kenting Park;

I shall always remember my defination for committe - to draw a line in the bottom of my heart.

tomorrow, tones of issues will flow to me. COO will leave by end of July, the annoucement will be make in early July, new business initative will launch in June and July, next board meeting is coming in July, new chairman in Tawain who put lots of doube in our operation...... yes, I have to handle them one by one.
