The return is the movie I went tonigh, it win the Venice Film Fesivial Golden Lion Award this year, appreicating Europen film bacme a new habit for both me and my wife, the Europe movie holds different view when construct the film, it something provide you a totally new angle to a thing you didn't think of before, compare the Hollywood production, the experice is quiet different; before the movie, I watch Michael Moore's Bowling in Comlimbize -- the documentary which explore the high school killing in 1999 and a simply yet rich content in describing the crime scene and gun control issues in the states.
The return is a simply story, it began with a long lost father, who came home after 12 years of depart from his family , leaving 2 sons and wife, the suddent return didn't change the relationship between father and son, then the father took 2 sons for a ride , in the one week journey, he trained his 2 sons without building intimacy and didn't show his love to the kids, acturally this is his trip to handle personal issue and take the same opportunity to bring 2 kids with him; the ending is dramatic, father die accidentally when tried to rescure ( or approach ) his second son Evan who climb to the watch tower in a no man island; the picture leave 2 cures with no answer : first is who is the father and what did he do ? second is the little box he dig out from the island, what's inside ? the director didn't want to answer the inquire in audience's heart, which is fine with me, as it explained the father is handling his own buisness, but taking kids out as a plus,
when stroll my P900's contact, I erase the number of Mr. Chu, who passed away 2 months ago, the erase of someone's phone number eternally is a ture good bye; it recall me the memory of Comtemperary artis Alan Chiang, who I always want to write down my feeling to him, he passed away late last year and no one told me until I found the memorial issure in Art Magazine.
Grand father failed to keep his promise to grandson, Sound didn't complain, he enjoy the TV as before. we went out and leave him alone with his grandma, when return home from the movie, Grandma at home, Sound told us the promise will be fulfilled tomorrow morning, they will have an outing to Sherding tomorrow.
the first impression is only represent 15% of you, this is the main reason why dressing properly is a key to leave better impression; for supporing this good reason, let me write down a few tips on top of those " dress properly " experts' advices:
1. wearing long socks and be sure it is not broken : when crossing your leg, you will find the higer leg will pull up your pant, if you don't wearing a long sock, it's very easy to explose the skins between the sock and the lower pant, if you are hairy, then this is an impliot matter; be sure it's no hole on all the toe part, cause you never know if you need to take of your shoes in some Japanese restaurant, it will embarrance you if you are wearing a socks with holes.
2. hang a jacket and tie in the office even you don't schedule any business appointment on that day, you never know when the VIP will visit you withour notice you in advance or you need to go out seeing someone in urgent manner, a secure business suit in your working place will release you from the improperly dressing.
3. mounth cleaning sprey : keep your mouth smell good is a basic manner, in some restaurant, the dished are cooked with heavy gallic or you stay up late and cause a bad mouth smell, keeping a sprey in your pocket will save you from some emarrasment as well.
4. hancerchief or tissue : sneezing / alerge / running nose can happen anytime, the things you prepared in advacne and make it a routine habit will save you someday.
5. shoes and belt in same color : the basic color matching common sense is don't mix your belt color with the shoes you ware; choose limit color for socks -- black / blue and grey seldom make mistake, shirts -- if you are color blind, always wearing white shirt but iron before wearing.

Continue the 3 in a party gourment session tonight with 2 of my Japanese colleage, this is a quarterly gathering among us, I am the guide for introducing renowne and over-valued restaurant; tonight, the restaurant I picked is Lung-Chi restaurant near by Chung Shan Hall, a famous Zenchang restaurant established over 50 years; as usual, I began with a brief introduction of the restaurant and the cusines it provided, then I will order the food for everyone.
this is an old restaurant, minor decoration, aged waiter and frenquent visit customers, the food is good and the ambience is historical; half way down our meal came an old man, I guess he must be over 80's, he set down without saying a word, the waiter bring over a half bottle chinese liquer -- with a stick on the bottle, we can tell this is the left over from his previous visit; we take a wide guess of his first visit to this restaurant, must be 40 years ago; he drink alone, slowly digest the food he ate and taking time enjoy the meals in front of him; this is a picture of " Enjoy someone's life ", I think he is alone now and no man making meals at home for him.
we finished the dinner by 8:20, this is normal as well, we only came to eat and selectivly talking during the meal.
sitting in front the TV and waiting for PTS's documentary film " The era of dancing " , the history of pop music in Taiwan, I didn't know the first record company was founded in 1920's by one Japanese orphen and didn't know in the 30's the most popular pop music is Ger-Tsai-She , a local drama originate from I-lan country, and learnt that the dancing era in Taiwan begin at 1929 when the record company ( Columbia, yes, the Taiwanese Columbia Record ) release the famous " My blue heaven ", this is part one of the documentary. I was from music industy and knew little about the begining of pop in Taiwan; it is fun and educational.
Back to the office this morning and conduct the first brain storming session for " Life ', I draft the agenda a few days ago and invited 3 of our colleage to contribute their time as valunteer members. I am not sure if they share the same mind with me, but my invitation do impresed a few members from the Full Shot Communication Foundation, the NPO which produce the 7 series of the documentary.
Lunch with E and J and obtain the surprised information, Eagles cancelled their show in Taipei due to the Aus. sold out date, I am a little bit release from the finacial concern but a little bit disappoinment to this sudden change; J. was quiet upset as this is a great opportunity for her and the investment team to participate in the entertainment / performance industry; now I need to make myself available for the Eagles concert in Hong Kong.
Resign of our channel marketing supervisor is not mature, she wrote us a letter and disappeared from the office, the letter shows her unsatisfaction about the company procesure, her salary review and management's commitment in changing ; we don't appreciate the comment she made this way, we are not rigid in reaction nor squre ourselves from changing, but she didn't know in the start up stage, how people suffer from worsten situation but survive themself to enjoy the improvement now; we understand there are lot of thing to be improve and modifed, but in the system, you may change it and participate on this movement, out of the environment, all the acquasiton were in vain and the challenge won't get you anywhere; I agree with COO's decision to release her from our company but at the same time to conduct a meeting for better exploring the problem in the marketing detp. this is the last resort we are aiming for, next phase of changing won't be the idea concept or sturcture, but people, who fit stay, otherwise, go their own way.
today is the last day for my summer break, I suppose to reserve today for my private relax, but due to some appoinment, I spent the day outside and contribute time for meself, to take some holiday flavor, I went to Eslite book store in the morning and buy myslef a few books, when it come to lunch time, I went down to the Japanese restaurant earlier than the scheudle, we had a 12:30 lunch appointment with Su, aj and kay, I was there 40 minutes earlier, well, there's anothe person who arrived as early as I am, she is kay, a PhD candidate major in Industry cluster study, as we were earlier than other guest, so , we had 40 minutes to know each other.
aj want to see Su, this is like a mental theraphy to him, when he feels down, su's opinion toward life and his way of living so inspired people, it gave aj a new perspective about life, he said this is like a instant injection, to get rid of the stress he is facing; according to him, his company's stock price is in its lowest price, it worried him, the conversation among us easy his worry and give him an angle to see a world differently.
the after noon appointment with the auto industry friend and my classmate went better than my expecatation, the model should be ready in 30 days, it will then determinate the project's dead or alive.

2 and half days stay with father, he is 80 right now, however his physical status and state of mind is pretty young, the little house in front of the small hill is his hide away since 30 years ago, he bought this place from 4 differenct persons at that time and change it to a orchid and farm. working on land is what he enjoyed, he always belive that sweat is the true productivity from a man and he follow this pholosophy since then, even in the bad weather like a few days ago, the mud flow cause a great damage to central Taiwan. but according to his neighborhood ( the close one is away from him for 2 miles ), even the rain falls like hell, he keep working on the water exit moat until dawn and didn't aware of the danger he explored.
My wife told me the happines thing in these few days is that he finally sleep in the same room with me in 20 years, this is something new to me, I didn't expect that the impact is so hugh and I didn't understand this means a lot to him, for saving some money, we decided to keep only one room in Janfusan Prince Hotel. this bring back his memory about me. the more he talked, the more I feel uncomfortable, as he taling too much without digest his mind -- but what's the hell, why should a father talk to his son before thinking well ? or shall everyone carefully think before speak even you are with your family ? he will tell me the naughy thing or bad memory when I was little, I don't know why, it won't creat any intimacy at all and why not look positively at me and see what's been achieved these day ? I am not talking about great accomplishment, but the dream and wish he always want me to be, I made it without his advicning and it seems he is too happy to bring me the worst memeory about me in his heart, it make me feel so unhappy, thanks for my wife who keep my temper down and asked me to calm down and accept a 80 years old man's lecture, no matter it means anything to me.
seeing fathers' friend is anothe torcher, he is good at making friend with starngers in all walk of life and in all demografic of age group, on our way home, he insisted to invite us to a reataurant where he make a good friend with a year ago, he preached about how great the owner are and how excellent the crusine is; again, my wife beg me to fulfill one of my faters' goal this time, when met the owner, I understand he is only pleased to be their friend and they don't really appreciated his bothering all the time, this is the problem with my father, making friend without prior study , devoted himself entirely to any new friend, then step into a delimn of doing more or not, final starge will be suffer from the best friends didn't equally treat the relationship each other; thank God by now the problems causes only related to his feeling, if he encounted with some bad guy who knows us via him, then our family will be in deep trouble. he is lucky and we are lucky too.
you can't change a 80 years old man, not to mention he is your father , in Chinese tradition. you obey and listen, you respect the elder and value the experience they garnered, this is my father, who is now excited about my post graduation degree, a MBA degree from National Taiwan University. this is by far the best gift I present to him, he won't change and will never stop making new friend.

Nature overrule everything; when the family gatheirng at the Tapei airport, checking in and inspection were so smoothly, we were excited about the soon to be realized family trip in half an hour, after the quick breakfast in the airport, I walked to the gate and found the red LED announced the delay of the flight due to the bad weather " Bad weather " cause the Huilian airport temperory closed, the airline didn't know the airport will reopen, we were sit and wait with no confirmed scheudle, the final answer arrived by 10:10 am when the airline announce the cancle of the flight , it supposed to fly on 9:10, Fruit's tear falling down her face, she took the trip much serious than her study at school. Sound is OK with any change of scheudle, he only asked for an compenstation to Tamsui where he can enjoy some steet game and possiblely for him to win some prizes; by 11:00 am, we decided to cancel the whole trip and went home, we make an alternavie plan of driving to Dauliu -- my hometown and to check where my father is after the Typhoon hit central Taiwan.
the alternative venture wins kid's welcome, the challenge is to have my wife drove more than 5 hours on the road to a totally new place by a luxury car -- the stress level is pretty high on her, she willing to take this mission and prepare herself for the trip; we started from my house by 12:00 am buougt 3 lunch box and ate them in the car, the drove on the highway is smoothly, we arrived Daiolui by 4:00 pm, now we need to find where my father is and to identify the exact location, to reflesh from my memory, we drove to MAYLIN ( The Plum Forest ) and asked more than 10 persons where is the place ? the last one we asked told us the little house where my father live is now blocked by the falling stones, the transportion and communication have been stopped for 2 days, but we don't need to worried, the road is accessable by foot and he were out buying some food yesterdsay, we ( my wife and 2 kids ) decided to perform a rescue plan and decided to find him and bring him out today, as we approch the barracade road, we met 2 persons, to be sure of our direction, I asked them again, the answere is they just see my father and got out of the place, we walked there in 20 minutes, he is excited to see 2 grand sons there, take him out and we check in one local hotel in Daoliu, this is a day without attraction. the secret I discoverd is how my son -- Sound fancy about the magic and he told me he can trade one arm with the magic, the left arm is for performing magic, I am surprise to know his secret that day.
day 2, in the early morning, I bring Fruit out for local breakfast, we stroll by the old house where I've grow up with, it decay now and no body living inside, it was the domitary of police officer, and the old house is a Japanese style house which tell the history of the house, adapte from the Japnesee occupipation untiel KMT era; the Lingun street stand still and my memory is clear and flesh.
I book Janfusan Fancy World for the second night stay without telling 2 kids, this is to be trade with their good behavior; in the moring, we accompany father to adjsute his teethe in one old frind the dential clinie, Mr. Liao who is Dr. Liao, we are kid friends before and now he is the doctor of the city; White Horse Temple is the destination we went after the clinic, I had an idea to visit this temple before the test, so, this is a visit with purpose, we saw LAMA singing and murmuring, it's so peaceful, after this, we found the old restaruant for lunch and then I announce our next desnestion - Jenfusan, the kids are celebrate, we arrived by 12:30, it rains cats and dogs, but for kid, rainning can't stop them from playing, so I took them to the fancy world by 1:30 they are so excited about the attractions and indoor playgound. we did our dinner at the Prince Hotel. after kids are satified, we did a night tour to the attractions again and wathc one of the show in the Rainbow theater. after 10:00pm me and my wife dicede to chekc the famous Taiwan Coffee and drove to Wasan -- famous for its great view and coffee, we drove up to the peak and find a coffee called " The view " and enjoy the scene and drink some.
third day morning, kid did their final round to the attraction again, when driving back, I found an interesting restaurant and we checke the Ostring meal for the first time and find 10 birds to play with. heading home after dring coffee in another country yard cafe. we arrvied Taipei by 6:30 pm
it is 7:00 o'clock now and we are all wake up for the trip, I made an announcment to our kid last night, told them to behavior properly, if they did not argue, fighting to each other for the whole day, then the reward will be an extended holiday and a token from father; I do hope the positive incentive can create a good family trip ambient.
I told me wife last night as well, we been married for 17 years, we shall treat the trip an anniversary celebration, so, we promise to ourselves not to yell to the kids and punish them during the 3 days trip.
the weather goods nice and the sun is hanging up high, Hulian -- we are coming to you.
