Headliner, I made one of my life milestone on the 17th, when my classmate called and advise my I am on the top page of the primary business news dairy and hava my photo with Vice Ministor of MOEA, I sent one staff to buy the newspaper, yes, it is true, this is the first time I become the headliner in my life in major business newpaper, compare to my previous media exploure, this is truely an triumphe to me, after 43 years of live, I made it and achieved something rare; I am happy but not proud or arognet. I been explour to media many times, my photos been posted offen, but that's maily entertainment news and that was 3 years ago. when moving myself to telecom / intenet and learn all the new things, I never thought I can signifigantly achieving this goal and making our company and myself a celebriety; it all comes nature but fast, I didn't and will never lost myslef to this paper glory, to make our business a proven one and to earn what shall earn in the competitve market place always be the priority to me. Looking at the photo, the person wearing a smile with confidence, is this me to all the people around me, I don't really know, but the phote gesture was great. it covered 1 / 4 of the newspaper, you can't hardly move you eyes away from it. yes. this it the day I shall mark every where; my wife is so proud of it and I am so happy about this unexpect result.
Happiness come with pain, I went to the dental clinic in the afternoon, I am planning to wash the teeth, but when the dentist told me 2 of my back teeths have problem and need to be fixed right away, she warned me , if I don't take care of it now, in 6 months, the toothache will really killed me, so, I make up my mind to accept the touch after the happiness, she is gentel, but when warning me it will cause a little bit of pain, I knew something is gonna happen, the drill is like the knife touching my teech, sore and pain comes together, the disatster last for 40 minutes, yes, this is the experience everyone shall facing - the level of painess next to give birth.
Ping Pong night on the Wed. is an extran night, because we obtain lot more free tickets, we need to excercise me to dispose it, tonigh is the campaign night, Osking coming back from China and we continue our game, this is the first time I win the session since we develop the new rule of the game after round one -- the handicap mechanism follow what golfer did, the difference is Golfer competive with themselves, we need to fight with another player, yes. I manage to win this time, so, the champainship may not slip away.
met with Mr. Chu is another accidental encounter, we lost contact for 3 years and heard that he is in a finanical crisis, but today , when listen to his latest plan, his ambition didn't die away, he still dream of controlling the marekt in his own way, a strategic person, what I am afraid is working for the old modle in new and emerge market will be a good strategy or not ? if the model didn't work in new market, then Waterloo will hit again, he is still calm and gentle, I prey for his coming back a success one in China.
The press conference held in MOEA was a good one, this is the occasion that I realize the meaning for " Less is more " and " short is beautiful ", we were elected ( by what standard I don't know ) as the best foreign investing company in Taiwan by MOEA ( Ministry of Economic Affairs ) together with another bio-chemical company -- UBI-ASIA, the purpose for the press conference is for recognition and promote the upcoming " Foreign Alliance Business Partner Campaign " by the government. we were asked to deliver a 3 minutes speech and 15 minutes of introduction for our business, UBI- Asia's representative - CEO, talk too much with no focus, she made her brief a chaotic one by mixing half of the speech in English and half in Chinese, to me, she may easily handle the 10 minutes in Chinese; perhaps, she is familiar with the Vice Minister, but the more she delivered during the press conference, the less impression she leave to media -- this is simply my observation, maybe I was wrong.
Classmate reunion gathering in Taipei to welcome Teacher Tseng was an unforgettable one, after the press conference, I pick up Teacher at his residence in Taipei, we haven’t seeing each other for like 20 more years, he looks young and health, the only difference is bold and losing some weight, on the way to the restaurant, he told me the story of a 42 years old immigrate in New York - back to 19 years ago and how he made up his mind to pursue the life he willing to take -- even it's a great risk; I told him my short personal history for the past 20 years; all the classmates arrived on time, again, everybody sharing and update each other -- we met 3 months ago , but this time, 2 new comer joint us, Mr. Chen, the boy who I never forget when we were at school days, 27 years ago, Chen grow taller then average junior high school student, so, he sometimes -- to be polite , actually, he always play with other classmate in violence , like to hold smaller classmate' neck with his strong arms etc, I never forget one thing which I witnessed, and I share the story with all the classmate during the dinner, he remembered nothing about it, here is the short story:
one day, when we were running on the campus track field, that is a roughly and simply field, the field is circled by bricks instead of artificial or nylon lines, all the bricks circled will leave it's head 5 -10 cm above the ground, when running over it, you have to be careful , otherwise, you may falling down, this is what happen to Chen, I saw him falling down by kick to the brick, when he stand up, he looks so upset and return kicking the brick again, this is really hurt, you can imagine your toe and foot hit the rocks, so he upset twice, then the unusual thing happens, he walk somewhere and bring a big stone back to the scene where he falling down and use the stone as hammer to remove the obstacles -- the brick which make his fall and hurt his foot again; I was shocked then, I never think of a human will behavior like this toward an objective with no life; no one saw it except me, cause I was there with distance that Chen didn't notice me, of course, Chen forget everything, when the story were told during the dinner, everyone were laughing, Chen is full of puzzle but didn't angry, he is now a big boss running 2 shoe manufacture in China and consider to immigrate to The States as well. the rest of classmate share a little bit, we told teacher we influence us the most and why our junior high school days in Cheng-shin change our life, this it true, we were heavily influence by all the good value we heritage, this is why I wish to call back the memories and asking everyone to share their passion again.
I made contact with a few classmate, it wasn’t very successful, but I will try again for the last week.
Learn a few update about junior high school classmate, as " 30 years reunion " in one of my Top 10 wishes as " New Year resolutions ", I put a lot of efforts to make it a great one, contact with all the long lost classmate is an interesting job, with the assistant of my secretary and 2 other classmate, we move the big rock little by little; major achievement so far is found our teacher and make possible that he will fly back to Taiwan ( he relocate to the States for a long time ) and join this reunion; I send out 2 invitation letter but the response is low, and I try to do voice contact -- calling them, via a few middleman ( classmate as well ), we manage to contact 80% of our classmate; tonight 9 of us will meet in Taipei first and welcoming Teachers' return home.
one of our classmate passed away during the military service, another one is doing his time in jail ( a rare case from our school ), 4 or 5 professors teaching in university, 3 or 4 doctors service in hospitals, yes, 27th will be an interesting party, my job is to pulling everybody together, this is the task, I need to perform as hard as possible.
the movie " Confession of a dangerous mind " is an epic, it deal about one entertainment genius who double his function as an special agent in CIA and act as assistant for American government killing 33 people; this is the DVD I bought from China -- 7 dollar RMB, you may indulgence yourself for 2 hours of movie, it's a great bargaining, on my last trip, I bought 50 of the DVD, now I am consuming them whenever I am free at night.
Nice to have lunch with Ben and happy that he can share his knowledge and experience , in return, I reserved 2 Yoyo Ma's concert tickets for him, Ben grow up in a prestigious family and equip with first - grade academic background -- Stanford / engineering, and founded one of the top 4 internet portal in China -- Sina, we get to know each other by the EMBA Class and I share his brave story when we develop our friendship then, I do admire his talent and respect his fighting with the obstacles and find his way to success. I wish to continue our relationship in a health way.
Receiving the second invitation from YPO for the annual gathering, it's on Thursday, when seeing my name appearing on the guest list and associate with those big shot and tycoons, a wire feeling burst out , am I qualified to sit together with them ? how they see me ? then I develop a self-relief mentality , be what I am, cause I may never be them, be my guard to win respect, cause they don't equip with what I have, it ease my tension, I must present myself as nature as possible, as "ME ' as possible.
MOEA sending journalist and camera for a pre-interviewing yesterday morning, I was not informed earlier , so, everything happened naturally, I did a bi-lingual interviewing with almost perfect result, Yes, I impressed a lot of people, this is the other " Saving kit " which I have and other don't.
Mr. Chen called and say hello, she is a little bit nervous, I am glad he called and treats us as friends, it's been a while, I am thinking seeing him sometimes.
this is a busy Sunday, I am tie up with the family, we promised to bring 2 kids to a Iran movie, a Taiwan teachers association recommendation film, As this movie have no English title , so I name it after the story and titled it put i , “ a little girl and her chicken. “ the story is based on how a little Iran girl trying her best to save a broken leg chicken. Iran movie is famous for its touching story and attached to children, it touch the soft part of human being , this movie is a typical one; go deeper you will find the movie itself also convey the message beyond the surface of love and peace. The message carried elements such as : not all the Muslin are terrorist , or : we suffer form the extremist as well; my wild guess is the propaganda for balancing the world view to Arab world shall be somehow sponsor by the government. Iran kid movie also like to draw an open ending, you must extend your imagination to complete the entire story. Fruit took it as one of her assignment but Sound have difficulty in obtains information coming from the movie as he begin to read and can’t hardly recognize the Chinese character.
We decided to take a trip to North Coast by Pacific highway after lunch, my wife is the family driver, always, I am the map reader and the traffic guide to lead the journey. this is a rare moment to sit in a car and watch all the beautiful beaches in such a great climate, the sky is blue, sea is blue, we stop by one fish waft called Fu-Gi and enjoy our second lunch , 2 hours after our Deep Fried Rib -- a seafood feast around 2 :30 pm, this is the first time family visit north coast by our own and its our debut encounter with FU-GI fish market., from our house to north coast and return home take us 4 hours , I am not sure if this arrangement find interesting for kids . But to make use of the Sunday with family shall create some value. Although during the short trip. We correct our kids' behavior whenever there's a chance. When coming back home, the heavy rain pour down from the sky, draught shall be gone and we don't need to worry about the limit water supply this year.
Watch the French movie at home with my wife, the same director, same character. same ambiance. A good story, I remember how they compare film industry between US and French, giving this debatable issue, the answer is: American spend decent budget for a little story, but French Film maker produce huge story but with constrained budget. This director uses smart wording and great metaphor to present his view to love, relationship, etc. I love his art form and the craft design for this compelling story.
